A missing tooth affects more than just a smile’s overall appearance. Teeth that have been extracted, knocked out, or lost (due to disease, decay, or trauma) need to be replaced as soon as possible for many reasons. The existing teeth may shift dramatically and cause more spaces and gaps within the smile, and the patient may experience decreased function for speaking and eating. Bone loss can occur when the tooth goes without replacement. Dr. Ann Kelley and her team of Kingsgate Dental in Kirkland, WA encourage patients to book an appointment with her to learn about ways to replace missing teeth, including the dental bridge procedure.
Ann Kelley describes the dental bridge as a restorative dental fixture that can replace one or several missing teeth in a row. This restoration is a unique porcelain piece that includes false teeth fused to dental crowns on each side. These crowns are made to bond over the adjacent teeth, which will add support. It essentially “bridges the gap” that exists after the loss of a tooth.
Dental bridges are just one of several restorations used here at Kingsgate Dental to replace missing teeth. We also offer dental implants, partial dentures, and full dentures. However, patients who choose dental bridges may do so for one or more of the following reasons:
