In recent years, the toxicity of Mercury has come into question, with multiple studies being published about the potential health risks of exposure. Amalgam fillings are composed of a mix of metals – up to 50 percent of which can be mercury. When mercury is warmed, it releases vapors that can be exposed to the individual.

Instead of amalgam, we use composite resin fillings. In addition to being mercury-free, composite resin fillings are tooth-colored and blend in seamlessly with the rest of the tooth, for a much more natural looking restoration. Also, there is less risk of tooth fractures caused by temperature changes with composite resin filling as opposed to amalgam fillings.
