Dental
Sealants
Dental sealants are protective, non-toxic, plastic coatings
applied to chewing surfaces of molars.
Benefits
- Greatly increases the chance of keeping molars healthy
for life
- Recommended by the American Dental Association for children
and adults at high risk for decay
- Avoids the pain and cost of dental repairs later by investing
time and money now
- Protects tooth enamel from bacteria-causing decay and food
from lodging in pits and fissures on surfaces of molars
- May be applied to wisdom teeth and less-susceptible premolars
(closest to the front of the mouth)
30-Minute Process
- We thoroughly clean your teeth.
- We etch tooth surfaces in the back of the mouth with a
mild acidic solution for about 15 seconds, to help the brushed-on
sealant adhere.
- We use a special light to “cure” the sealant.
Maintenance
We check you at subsequent visits to ensure your tooth surfaces
are still adequately covered.
